Final: Sharks 2, Bruins 1

All done at the Tank. Sharks win, 2-1. Outshoot Bruins, 27-17. Game lasts only 2:09.

2:00 to go.

15:45 — Sharks, 2-1. Chara strikes on scramble in Sharks end, Niemi virutally flat on back when Chara sinks low to pot loose puck. Kelly and Rolston the assists.

Half way through third period. Sharks holding comfortable 2-0 lead.

2:17 — Sharks, 2-0. Winnik snipes in wrister off left wing after Seguin’s shot attempt at opposite end thwarted by Andrew Desjardins, triggering San Jose’s rush up ice.

40:00 in books. Sharks ahead, 1-0, after dominating both periods. Bruins fortunate to be within easy striking distance.

17:12 — Boston’s best chance of night, Lucic deflecting a Krejci feed off the crossbar on the rush. Sharks still with 1-0 lead.

Highly ineffective man-advantage for defending Cup champs. One shot, by Chara, gloved by Niemi.

11:27 — Braun off for slashing. Boston’s first PP of eve.

3:57 — Sharks, 1-0. Pavelski pot at right post after Marleau shovel at left post on dish in from behind goal line by Thornton. Scoring play begins by Jumbo picking off Lucic pass and landing quick shot on Thomas.

Interesting note. Seguin with team-high 60 points for Bruins. Just checked with Elias Sports Bureau. In the post-lockout era, Seguin among only 34 first- and second-year players to reach 60 points.

2:35 off the clock, no shots on net.

A little more than a half-hour to go before faceoff, Bruins vs. Sharks, here at the Tank.
