Dennis Seidenberg will not play tonight against the Washington Capitals. Seidenberg suffered a cut on his leg during last Saturday’s game against Los Angeles. A skate blade caused the cut, which doctors stitched after the injury, but the cut has since become infected. Seidenberg is on antibiotics and is considered day-to-day.
This will be the first game Seidenberg will miss this season. After tonight, Chris Kelly and Patrice Bergeron will be the only players to have appeared in every game.
This is the second time in the last three years Seidenberg has suffered a cut via skate late in the regular season. Seidenberg required forearm surgery on April 6, 2010, when he suffered a cut tendon in Toronto. Seidenberg missed the rest of the regular season and all of the playoffs.
Joe Corvo will replace Seidenberg in the lineup. Corvo has been a healthy scratch for the last six games. The Bruins went 5-1-0 without Corvo.
Zdeno Chara will most likely be paired with Johnny Boychuk. Chara and Seidenberg had been together for the last six games.
