Defenseman Johnny Boychuk left Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss to the Penguins after taking a hit to the left leg and his status remains unknown, coach Claude Julien said after the game.
Boychuk collided with Aaron Asham seven minutes into the third period and was eventually helped off the ice. Asham’s lower half appeared to clip Boychuk’s left knee, but Julien said more would be known about the injury on Wednesday.
“He got hit on the side of the leg and it could be a variety of things in that area,” the coach said. “He didn’t feel too bad. That’s why I said when you’re still warmed up, you don’t feel it as much till the next day when you get a better idea. So we’ll reevaluate him tomorrow and probably get a clear idea of what his situation is.”
Boychuk was seen limping after the game but walking on his own power.
