Bruins departing for Washington, Adam McQuaid staying home

The Bruins have completed their off-ice workouts, meetings, and video work at TD Garden and are scheduled to leave for Washington Sunday afternoon. Aside from goalies Tuukka Rask and Anton Khudobin, and skaters Jordan Caron, and Mike Mottau, the Bruins did not skate, which was expected given the time they’ve spent on the ice so far.

Defenseman Adam McQuaid (eye/head) will not make the trip. McQuaid will remain home to receive treatment. McQuaid has yet to resume skating on his own.

During their meetings, the Bruins looked at ways to create offense and make life more challenging on Capitals goalie Braden Holtby.

“I think our battle can be better,” coach Claude Julien said. “When you look at this series right now, I think both teams are pretty even. That’s why it’s tied up 1-1. That’s why both games have gone into overtime. Somewhere along the way, you’ve got to find a way to get a little more of that edge than the other team. They’re probably hoping to do the same thing.”
