Final, Bruins 4, Islanders 2

End of game, Bruins 4-2 That’s all from the Garden, with the Bruins beating the Islanders 4-2. Hamilton had the first multi-point game of his career, bringing out a spirited — if short-lived — “Dougie! Dougie!” chant from the fans.

6:27 3rd period, Bruins 4-2 Bergeron gets one, from Marchand and Hamilton. All started with Hamilton.

12:53 3rd period, Bruins 3-2 Bruins get one from Chara, assisted by Lucic and Horton. It was his first goal of the season.

19:32 3rd period, 2-2 Krejci out for holding. Power play, Islanders. They are 0-2 so far on the power play tonight.

3:46 2nd period, 2-2 Power play time. Streit for interference.

6:18 2nd period, 2-2 Gregory Campbell just netted his first goal of the season, getting this game back to a tie. He was assisted by Krejci and Kelly. The media assembled by the TV to see the replay all really appreciated when NESN cut out before the goal was actually scored. Whoops.

10:10 2nd period, Islanders 2-1 That’s two for Aucoin. Rask lets in an unassisted goal, Aucoin’s third of the season. The Islanders are leading with 6 shots in the second period to the Bruins’ 1. He has three goals and one assist in the last three games.

15:50 2nd period, 1-1 Chara for interference.

17:36 2nd period, 1-1 There was a scoring change on the Bruins goal. It’s now Thornton from Paille and Hamilton.

0:21 1st period, 1-1 Kelly gets called for tripping, giving the Islanders a power play.

2:07 1st period, 1-1 The Bruins are on the first power play of the evening, and get a chance. Seguin, though, has his chance stopped by DiPietro on the line — or does he? The play goes to review, and is ruled not a goal. The Islanders remain perfect on the penalty kill so far this season.

3:27 1st period, 1-1 There are gloves on the ice. I believe they belong to Paille and Martin. It was a less effective fight than Lucic’s efforts, even when Thornton stepped in to help. Penalties are coming. Paille, two minutes unsportsmanlike conduct. Thornton gets a 10-minute misconduct. Martin gets four minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

8:47 1st period, 1-1 Islanders just tied the score on a goal by center Keith Aucoin, assisted by McDonald and Ullstrom. I’m learning that the Islanders don’t travel quite as well as the Knicks did last night. Definitely not as much Isles gear as there was Knicks. Go figure.

10:16 1st period, Bruins 1-0 DiPietro, by the way, doesn’t have a win since Dec. 3, 2011. The Bruins are trying their best to put off that next win.

14:06 1st period, Bruins 1-0 And we have our first fight of the evening. Lucic mixed it up with Matt Carkner in the Islanders zone, with Lucic getting in a pretty good shot. Both received major penalties for fighting.

15:08 1st period, Bruins 1-0 Shawn Thornton gave the Bruins the lead with his first goal of the season. He was set up in front of the goal, and knocked in a rebound off a shot by Hamilton. Assists to Hamilton and Campbell.

18:52 1st period, 0-0 After missing the last two games, Dennis Seidenberg is indeed playing tonight.

Pregame Tonight marks the season debut for Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro. Meanwhile, Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has started each of the Bruins games so far this season.
