For the first time in the preseason, Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron will play Saturday night against the Detroit Red Wings, according to coach Claude Julien.
The decision was announced after Friday’s practice at TD Garden. Bergeron, who has spent the offseason recovering from a myriad of injuries, practiced, but did not play in any of the first three games of the preseason.
In last year’s Stanley Cup Final against Chicago, Bergeron suffered a punctured lung, a separated shoulder, a broken rib and torn rib cartilage.
Loui Eriksson, who was acquired from Dallas when the team traded Tyler Seguin, is looking forward to getting the opportunity to log game action with his new linemate.
“He’s been a really good player to play with,” Eriksson said of Bergeron. “And it’s going to be nice to get some games with him too to see what we can do out there. That’s how we work on things.”
