After three-plus months since the puck last dropped at the Garden — we’ll stay away from what happened in that game — hockey is back in Boston. The Bruins will face the Lightning in their season opener, with new faces peppering the ice for the home team. Loui Eriksson, Jarome Iginla, and Reilly Smith will all make their debuts for the Bruins tonight.
There’s good news, too, on the injury front. David Krejci, who has been out since Friday with back spasms, is a go for tonight’s game. He’ll be centering the team’s top line with Milan Lucic and Iginla. Carl Soderberg remains out until at least Saturday’s game, but it seems that he too is on the mend.
“I think the players are looking forward to it,” coach Claude Julien said. “We’ve had a long training camp, so looking forward to getting it going here tonight with our fans behind us.”
Julien would not announce which of the Bruins defensemen would sit for tonight’s game, but it seemed from morning skate that Matt Bartkowski is likely to be the odd man out.
