The Bruins have invited veteran winger Simon Gagne to training camp on a tryout basis, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports and the Montreal Journal.

The 34-year-old Gagne, an unrestricted free agent, hasn’t played since the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season. Bruins fans, of course, remember Gagne most for his game-winning goal with the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 7 which the Bruins led 3-0…in a series the Bruins led 3-0.

He scored 11 points in 27 games in his last stint with the Flyers, and won a Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings, with whom he played from 2011-13. He has 288 goals and 309 assists in his career.

Gagne is an intriguing addition to the mix of training camp, which begins next month, but should be a long shot to make the Bruins’ roster. He’s missed 233 games over the course of his career, but he’s also been a monster against Boston with 15 goals and 11 assists in 39 games played against the Bruins.
