Allen in court
Tony Allen also was not at practice today to attend a status hearing in Chicago in conjunction with his court case. A new status hearing was scheduled for November 21, at which time Allen is hopeful that a trial date will be set. Allen does not have to be in attendance at the November 21 hearing.
Eleven months ago, a grand jury in Cook County indicted Allen three counts of aggravated battery for his alleged role in a fight that escalated into a shooting at the White Palace Grill in Chicago on August 28. Allen has pleaded innocent. Aggravated assault carries a maximum penalty of five years in jail. Allen is expected to meet his teammates in New York and be in uniform for tomorrow night’s game.
