Al Jefferson made an appearance on the court of the TD Banknorth Garden around 5:35 p.m. Jefferson is recovering from an appendectomy procedure he underwent one week ago. Big Al was moving gingerly, but the Celtics forward practiced a few baby hooks and mid-range jumpers while his teammates warmed up more vigorously around him.
The usually vocal Jefferson refrained from saying much of anything, but he did have time to pose for a picture with a group of children at center court. Jefferson is expected to miss anywhere between two and six weeks of action.
Also on the court for the Celtics were Brian Scalabrine, Ryan Gomes, Leon Powe, and Allan Ray. Ray, who has not seen the court this season, ran sprints to keep up his conditioning.
The Celtics enter tonight’s game with the Indiana Pacers at 1-6, tied for the worst record in the league with Charlotte. Boston’s only win came against the Bobcats.
The Pacers (4-3) are coming off an 89-80 loss at Chicago. The Pacers took the last meeting between the two teams in April, but Boston has won three of the last four against Indiana.
