The Celtics hope to have more bodies available for practice Tuesday than they did today. Kendrick Perkins (left foot plantar fascitis), Delonte West ( sprained left big toe) and Wally Szczerbiak (strained gluteus) all missed practice Monday. Coach Doc Rivers hopes all three will be available for today’s workout. There is also an outside chance doctors will clear Al Jefferson for full contract for Tuesday’s practice, though don’t expect him in the lineup for Wednesday night’s game at Charlotte.
“He’s not going to play Wednesday,” said Rivers. “I’m pretty sure of that. Actually, I thought he was last week. I was informed that’s not going to happen most likely. It looks like Friday will be the day he will practice. It’s just the doctors evaluation. I just made that assumption [that he would play Wednesday] on my own.”
With Jefferson as well as Michael Olowokandi (small abdominal tear) and Theo Ratliff (bulging disk lower back) sidelined, Rivers couldn’t do everything he wanted to in practice today.
“We don’t get but 20 good practices a season and we just blew one of them today,” said Rivers. “It’s what it is. I wasn’t real happy when I found out about it. There’s nothing you can do about it as a coach.”
