Helping Rondo

Welcome to the Garden, where the first place (yes, really) Celtics are set to tip off against the New Jersey Nets at 7:30 p.m. The winner of tonight’s game will have sole possession of the Atlantic Division lead.

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was on the court early before tonight’s game. Rondo worked on something his coaches have consistently said is the weakest part of his game: shooting. With a token hand in his face from one of the team managers, Rondo practiced pulling up off the dribble for midrange jumpers. Rondo looked rusty in about 10 minutes of work, hitting about a third of his shots over that span. He did not look comfortable shooting from an 18-20 foot range.

Rondo was given his second DNP coach’s decision of the season last game against the Bucks.

We’re courtside here for a little while longer before we head into the locker rooms for some pregame comments. Check back for more Celtics-Nets updates throughout the night.
