Gerald Green and Ryan Gomes went at each other in a one-on-one drill before tonight’s game. While the high schooler Green is considerably more athletic, Gomes used his strength and experience to get the best of the youngster. Gomes hit a series of fade-aways and hook shots on the offensive end. The second-year player out of Providence also forced Green so far under the basket on one drive that Green could not get the ball to the front of the rim.
Kendrick Perkins and Al Jefferson, who have both been less than 100 percent lately, did some footwork drills with strength coach Walter Norton Jr. The two seemed to get through the vigorous warmup with no problems.
Former Connecticut forward/center Josh Boone, who is recovering from shoulder surgery in July, took jumpers for over an hour before the game. Boone has not yet played this season for the Nets.
New Jersey (5-9) is currently riding a six-game losing streak that has caused them to drop out of first place in the Atlantic Division. Boston (5-8) can stay in first with a win tonight.
