At the end of the first quarter, the Celtics lead, 28-19.
Al Jefferson drew three fouls on a Memphis center (two on Stromile Swift, one on Jake Tsakalidis) in the first two minutes of the game. Starting at center in place of Kendrick Perkins, Jefferson had five points and five rebounds in the first quarter.
Brian Scalabrine, not Leon Powe, was the first big man off the bench for the Celtics. Scalabrine had four points and four rebounds in the period.
Doc Rivers used 10 players in the first quarter. The only player available to Rivers that did not see action was guard Allan Ray.
Most interesting matchup so far? Boston’s Gerald Green vs. Memphis’s Rudy Gay. Both players are all kinds of lanky, and both can dunk with the best in the league. Hard to tell who got the best of that matchup so far.
