Boston brought out its pressing-unit of Scalabrine, Rondo, Gomes, West and Green to start the fourth quarter. Scalabrine fouled out at the 10:11 mark in the fourth quarter and left to some sincere cheers.
The Celtics did not look like the same team in the second half. Boston’s offense struggled to get shots, while their defense was not nearly as effective as when Scalabrine and Jefferson were controlling the paint in the first half.
The Celtics lost despite surprising contributions from Green (21 points) and Scalabrine (10 points, 8 rebounds). Paul Pierce led the way for Boston with 25 points.
