And then there were none.
The Celtics are now officially center-less. Kendrick Perkins said today after the team’s shootaround that he will miss the next three weeks to rest his sore left foot. Perkins has been battling plantar fasciits for weeks and the injury has only worsened. Additionally, Michael Olowokandi (abdominal strain) and Theo Ratliff (back) are also out.
The short-term plan is to use Al Jefferson at center with Leon Powe or even Brian Scalabrine as backups. Said coach Doc Rivers, “we are going to have to play small now. We have no choice.”
As for getting a replacement big man, the Celtics would either have to release someone or make a trade because their roster is at the maximum 15 players.
