Welcome to the Garden

Welcome to the TD Banknorth Garden, where the Celtics are preparing to take on the Phoenix Suns at 7:30 p.m.

As Shira Springer reported earlier today, Celtics forward Wally Szczerbiak will not play tonight. Szczerbiak is out with an ankle injury. Kendrick Perkins, Michael Olowokandi, and Theo Ratliff continue to be out for the Celtics.

The Suns are coming off a ridiculous 161-157, double-overtime win in New Jersey last night. Steve Nash scored a career-high 42 points and also had 13 assists. Nash’s previous career-high was 39 points, scored against Portland in 2001 when Nash was in Dallas. The Celtics have to be hoping the long game and quick turnaround will have the Suns tired tonight.

  • Gerald Green did some extensive shooting work with Celtics coaches before the game. Green is coming off one of the best games of his career, a 21-point effort against Memphis on Wednesday. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said after that game Green would be seeing more minutes as the season goes on.

The Celtics locker room has just opened. We’ll be back in a flash with pregame comments from both teams.
