Guarding LeBron

Celtics forward Ryan Gomes talked about Boston’s defensive plan against LeBron James tonight.

“LeBron’s a different type of player because he’s bringing it up the court, so everybody has to keep their eye on him,” said Gomes. “But you also have to keep your eye on your man because he’s such a good passer. We have to slow him down first and make other guys beat us. We can’t let him go out and have a triple-double or a 45-point night.”

Tony Allen will start the game on James, but Gomes is one of many players who will help on James.

“It’s hard for me to help off Drew Gooden a lot because he’s close to the basket,” said Gomes. “If the shot goes up he’ll get an easy rebound. We’ll have our guards help out a little more, but we’ll all be aware of him.”
