Welcome to the Garden, where the Celtics (11-19) are set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (18-12) at 7:30 p.m.
Celtics players seem to be a little behind schedule following their five-game road trip. The recently red-hot Tony Allen was the only Celtics player warming up on the court around 5:45 p.m. There are usually at least four or five players shooting by that time.
Al Jefferson was the next player onto the court for the Celtics. He and former Celtic (current Cav) Dwayne Jones shared an embrace before the game. Jones was traded to Cleveland in exchange for Luke Jackson, who is no longer on the Celtics roster.
The Celtics are currently just 1.5 games out of first place in the Atlantic Division despite being right games under .500. Despite a 1-4 road trip, Boston really hasn’t lost much ground in the standings.
The Celtics have missed a combined 82 games due to injury this year and are on pace for 223 for the season. Last season players missed 171 games due to injury.
Al Jefferson has averaged 18.2 points and 12.3 rebounds during the last six games.
The Celtics have a better record when Tony Allen is in the starting lineup than when he comes off the bench. Boston is 30-27 (.526) with Allen starting and 59-78 when Allen comes off the bench. Allen is in the starting lineup tonight against Cleveland.
