Wearing a pinstriped suit and alligator shoes, Miami superstar Dwayne Wade explained his team’s slow start to reporters after the game. The Heat were down 10 after the first quarter.
“It’s freezing in that gym, man,” said Wade. “I couldn’t even get going.”
Wade finished the game with 30 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. He said Miami expected the Celtics to come out with energy. In fact, the first key to the game written on the white board in Miami’s locker room before tip-off was, “Respect their desperation.”
“It’s the way we expected it. This is a team that’s very hungry to get a win. With the world champions coming in you expect nothing but the best from them early on. Anybody who thought they wouldn’t was a fool.”
