Celtics coach Doc Rivers said after the game that the ankle sprain suffered by Wally Szczerbiak in the third quarter was worse than the other sprains he has had this season.
“It’s a pretty bad sprain,” said Rivers.
Rivers said Szczerbiak stepped on Leon Powe’s foot while chasing Heat forward Jason Kapono when he twisted the ankle. Powe was sitting on the Boston bench.
After the game, however, Szczerbiak countered his coach’s statements and said this sprain was not as bad as the others.
“It’s just bad luck, man,” said Szczerbiak. “It’s just frustrating, right when I was starting to feel better and get my legs under me and get a little bit of a sharper rhythm.”
