Doc’s take

  • On Paul Pierce’s return: “It was great having Paul back,” said Rivers. “Obviously he struggled. You can see, no legs for the most part. But that’s what I expected.”
  • On what slowed Pierce: “I think it was just timing, trying to breath. I don’t think people understand. You can do all that other stuff – the bike, the swimming, and all that stuff. But then you play in a real NBA basketball game and it’s a whole different speed.”
  • On the loss: “I thought our guys, it’s amazing, right when he (Pierce) walked on the floor they just stopped and watched him for a little while. And we were trying to get them to run stuff away from Paul, just to get everybody involved.”
  • On Pierce’s 20 minutes: The reason I left him out on the floor was because he asked to stay on the floor. He just said, ‘I’ve got to get in some kind of shape. I’m dying out there. Let me stay out.’”
