Now it’s a game.
The Knicks made an 11-1 run to start the third quarter and cut a 20-point halftime lead in half with 8:39 remaining in the frame. After a Boston timeout, New York hit another basket to cut the lead to eight before Al Jefferson’s dunk with 7:12 remaining temporarily ended the Boston drought.
New York’s run did not end there. Led by Stephon Marbury, Quentin Richardson, and Jared Jeffries, the Knicks cut the lead to 65-62 with 4:37 left in the third quarter. Richardson has 22 points at the end of the third quarter and has made five of eight three-pointers.
Jeffries picked up his fifth foul with 2:57 left in the quarter and was taken out of the game.
