Early in the second quarter, Ryan Gomes lost the ball on his first offensive touch since March. 7. Gomes tried putting a spin move on Walter Herrmann and lost the ball out of bounds. On the next trip down, Gomes got to the line against Jake Voskuhl and made both.
Boston went with a second unit of Leon Powe, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Rajon Rondo, and Allan Ray for a good chunk of the second quarter. The group was handed a 12-point lead to begin the quarter and expanded it up to 13 before Paul Pierce, Delonte West, and Al Jefferson returned with 5:04 left in the half.
Adam Morrison fouled Pierce hard on a drive to the hoop with 20.3 seconds left in the half. Pierce got up holding his right shoulder but was able to make both free throws.
