Doc’s take

Celtics coach Doc Rivers wasn’t about to celebrate his team’s clinching of the second-worst record in the NBA.

“Well we earned it,” said Rivers. “I can tell you that. That’s all I say on it. We earned it and now we can move on. Memphis earned the [No. 1] spot, Milwaukee’s earned the [No. 3] spot. The only thing I would say about all three teams is they all have the same problems. I don’t think any of the three teams would be where they are if they were healthy. So hopefully when you go through this hell — and that’s what it’s been — you get something out of it. That’s basically what I think all the teams were really trying to do honestly. So now it’s over.”

Rivers was asked if he was surprised that Mo Williams, who has appeared in recent games for Milwaukee, did not play tonight.

“Oh no, not at all,” he said. “I was surprised that Earl Boykins or any of them played. We laugh at it, but for coaches it’s awful. It really is. I don’t know how you fix it. That’s the problem. I have my ideas, but.”
