Doc Rivers has preached establishing a home-court advantage for three seasons, but the Celtics haven’t had the talent or execution to do it until now. They’re off to an 11-0 start at the Garden.

“It’s really nice,” said Rivers. “That’s – if you want to be a really good team, a great team, you have to do that. And we’ve never obviously been able to establish anything here in this building. So it’s really nice. It’ll pay dividends later.”

Rivers mentioned the playoffs as a place where home court will come in handy. But captain Paul Pierce thinks the Celtics can use it right now.

“When [other teams] make that trip here and look at our record, we want them to think twice,” said Pierce. “That in itself is an intimidation factor.”
