The Celtics seemed very relaxed during today’s practice in Waltham.
They also seem very serious when the subject of maintaining homecourt came up with the media.
Boston enters Game 2 Wednesday at T.D. Banknorth Garden, where it has a 9-0 record in the playoffs. However the Celtics are also 0-6 on the road in the postseason and play Games 3 and 4 in Detroit over this holiday weekend.
Guard Sam Cassell said that he was “surprised” that he did not play in Game 1 against Detroit on Tuesday.
The two-time NBA champion has said one of the main reasons he was brought to Boston as a free agent was to play in big time playoff series.
Playing the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals is of that nature Cassell speaks of, but with Eddie House playing well in the backup point guard role it remains be seen when and if Cassell will be given an opporutunity to play.
But with the Celtics success in Game 1 in mind and more veteran frame of mind now, Cassell said he would not complain.
Struggling shooting guard Ray Allen played one-on-one with several teammates after practice and took extra shots individually.
There has been some talk that Celtics assistant general manager Dave Wohl is a candidate for the Atlanta Hawks’ GM position but as it stands now word out of Atlanta is the leading candidate seems to be Cavaliers assistant general manager Chris Grant.
The Celtics will not have a morning shootaround on Thursday, but will workout at 6 p.m. at T.D. Banknorth Garden.
