Stephon Marbury told the New York Times today that he will sign with the Celtics and be in uniform for tomorrow night’s game against the Pacers at the TD Banknorth Garden. Before that happens, however, he must first clear waivers, which is expected to happen tomorrow morning.
“The great thing is that they want me to play with them,” Marbury told the Times. He added that he had already met with some of his new teammates.
According to the Times, Marbury is scheduled to meet with reporters in Boston tomorrow morning.
Asked about his role with the Celtics (serving as a backup to guard Rajon Rondo), Marbury said, “I’ll just let my game speak for itself.”
