Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams, one of the league’s best, did not participate in practice today at Suffolk University and is a game-time decision with a bruised right calf. Williams came out of Monday’s game against the New York Knicks because of calf discomfort but did return. He sat and watched practice with the calf iced.
Meanwhile, backup point guard Ronnie Price also missed practice with a strained left big toe. If neither are able to play, former Virginia Commonwealth guard Eric Maynor may get the start.
Williams had good things to say about counterpart, Rajon Rondo.
“He’s a tough player to play against,” he said of Rondo. “He’s great definitely, has long arms, quick hands. You can’t really relax with the ball and he’s definitely picked up his scoring. He’s become a much better scorer, shooter. When he first got in the league you could play off of him a little bit but now he’s hitting jumpers. It’s tough.”
