Welcome to TD Garden, where the Boston Celtics (1-1) will take on the New York Knicks (1-0) at 7:30 p.m.
The Celtics Dancers are currently occupying center court, with Drake on the PA system. Injured Knicks center Eddy Curry is doing some conditioning on one end of the court. Curry won’t play tonight but is expected to practice with the Knicks next week, Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni told NorthJersey.com.
No Celtics warming up at the moment. As Gary Washburn wrote this morning, tonight’s game is important for the Celtics if only so they match their strong early-season starts of the last three seasons. The Celtics were able to coast through most of last season and still secure a high playoff seed because they started off 23-5. The Celtics shouldn’t lose to the Knicks, but it does of course happen (see: Cleveland, Weds.).
In addition to the game tonight, there’s a storyline involving Delonte West and Von Wafer. Danny Ainge addressed the issue to Julian Benbow earlier this afternoon. Doc Rivers will of course be asked about it before tonight’s game, as will any of the Celtics players available to speak to the media in the locker room. We’ll have those updates and more as the night goes on.
