Welcome to TD Garden, where the Boston Celtics will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7 p.m. (note the early start time for national television).
Comcast Sportsnet has been promoting tonight’s game as Kevin Durant’s only Boston appearance this season, but that appearance is in jeopardy. Durant is doubtful for tonight’s game with a left ankle injury. The Thunder star says he suffered the injury during a game Wednesday night and played through it. He did not participate in the team’s shootaround and is not on the court now as some of his teammates are warming up.
“After the game, I think it got worse,” Durant told NewsOK.com this morning. “Maybe I should have come out in the first quarter. But I just wanted to help my team win. And I felt if I was on the floor I was helping my team.”
For what it’s worth, Celtics forward Luke Harangody, who is warming up on the other end, is under the impression that Durant isn’t playing. Jeff Green will not play tonight for the Thunder, potentially leaving Oklahoma City without two starters. Given the injuries, it’s even more imperative that the Celtics defend their homecourt tonight. They’re 5-0 at home this season, and with a day off yesterday, tonight almost becomes a must-win.
Back with more details on Durant and others shortly.
