Doc Rivers said he watched the Sixers absorb a 121-76 loss to the Bulls Tuesday night, and, knowing that would mean the Celtics would be facing a wounded team tonight, sent a message to Bulls coach and former Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau.
“I sent a very mean text message to Thibs after the game,” Rivers said.
The Sixers gave the Celtics a scare two weeks ago in Philly, and Rivers expects them to be extra motivated tonight.
“That’s just human nature,” Rivers said. “You don’t want to be the next team, but we are.”
Sixers coach Doug Collins was still thinking about the loss in a Boston coffee shop before coming to the arena.
“I thought to myself, as much as we got our tail kicked [Tuesday] night, I thought, I wonder what Kobe Bryant felt here in Game when they lost by 39. It happens in this business. There are nights when it just happens. And you don’t want to forget it. But at the same time, you’ve got to move on and you’ve got to be better for it.”
