Storylines:

Moving on without Marquis: The whole left by Marquis Daniels will have to be filled by either Von Wafer or rookie guard Avery Bradley, who was recalled by the Celtics recalled rookie from NBDL Maine. The Celtics could look to make a move, but Delonte West expects to return from a broken wrist before the all-star break optimistically, which gives them more options. In the meantime, the Celtics could lean on Von Wafer, who’s played more minutes (12.3 a night in January) and has tried to make the most of them.

Rondo’s offensive assertiveness : For the season, Rondo’s taking 9.4 shots a game. Already this month, he’s taken 15 shots in two different games. Last night against the Magic, he wreaked havoc, getting to the line nine times and knocked down seven of his attempts there. Doc Rivers said his goal for Rondo in the second half of the season is to take 10 free throws a night.

Bobcats trying to change defensive ways: Taking a cue from the Celtics, who’ve held the Bobcats to two of their worst scoring nights in franchise history, Bobcats coach Paul Silas wants his team to communicate more effectively on defense. “You cannot play good defense unless you talk; it’s an impossibility,” Silas said. “Changing habits are very difficult. It takes about 28 days of doing something different to change a habit. I have to mention it to them every day that we’re not talking.”
