WASHINGTON — The one thing Doc Rivers wanted to do was escape Monday’s game against the lowly Washington Wizards in good health. Well… despite the resting of four starters, the Celtics still sustained an injury as Delonte West sprained his right ankle in a collision with Washington’s JaVale McGee early in the second quarter.
West was whistled for the foul on the fastbreak and could not get up on his own. He was helped to his feet by two teammates and walked gingerly to the locker room on his own, with trainer Ed Lacerte. West missed eight games in late February and early March with a badly sprained right ankle.
West is uncertain for Wednesday’s game against the New York Knicks.
