Welcome to MSG …

NEW YORK — Welcome to Madison Square Garden, where the Boston Celtics will take on the New York Knicks at 3:30 p.m. (ABC). The Celtics lead the best-of-seven series, 3-0.

It’s a beautiful day here in Manhattan after a mostly rainly weekend. People are out in their Sunday best on their way from church to Easter brunch. Those spring colors really pop in the sunshine. The Knicks could use some pop this afternoon after laying an egg on Friday night in a loss to the Celtics in Game 3. They need to play better, or that Madison Square Garden exit sign pictured on the left will have added meaning for the Celtics. The odds of the series returning back here seem slim. The Knicks can increase the odds of the series returning to Boston on Tuesday by coming with energy and intensity from the jump.

The arena literally just opened up. The Knicks dancers are here, though Ray Allen is not yet out for his pregame shooting ritual. You wonder what, if any, impact the early afternoon start has on both teams. The Celtics can’t worry about how the Knicks will perform. If they take care of their own business and play anywhere near the kind of basketball they played on Friday night, they’ll be just fine.

Back with plenty more here from MSG. Happy Easter.
