Ray’s back: After missing Wednesday’s game against the Nets and not practicing Thursday, coach Doc Rivers confirmed Ray Allen will start tonight. “He should be well-rested if nothing else,” Rivers said. “You just never know when a guy is sick, what he has in his tank, so we’ll see.”
Does Danny Granger compare to Paul Pierce? Depends on which coach you ask. Pacers coach Frank Vogel said before the game that he saw a lot of Pierce in Granger, while Rivers quickly dismissed the comparison. “They’re both great scorers, but no I don’t see a big similarity just because of their size difference and how they play. Paul is crafty.” Vogel worked with Pierce closely as an assistant coach for the Celtics from 2001-05.
On the rebound: The Pacers were blown out in Miami Wednesday night, 118-83. Vogel devoted all of yesterday’s practice to defense and said that will be the key against the Celtics.
Remember me? Jermaine O’Neal played eight of his best seasons in Indiana and tonight he’ll get a chance to play against his old team.
