Fourth quarter, 59.1, Celtics 87-84: You didn’t expect this to be easy did you? The Clippers respond with two Chris Paul free throws and Rajon Rondo then misses a point-blank layup. Caron Butler missed a 3-point attempt but it’s slammed home by Blake Griffin. Celtics ball.

Fourth quarter, 2:47, Celtics 83-78: It was about this time yesterday that the Celtics led by 5 points and didn’t score for the final 2:41, losing by 3. Let’s see what happens tonight after a 9-0 run, fueled by a 3-pointer from Paul Pierce. Clippers ball.

Fourth quarter, 4:22, Clippers 78-74: And just like that the Celtics have wasted a 10-point lead because the offense simply can’t score. They have scored 3 points in the past 4:28 while the Clippers have scored 17 in that span. Bobby Simmons’s 3-pointer just gave the Clippers their largest lead since early in the third quarter. Do the Celtics have anything left to rally?

Fourth quarter, 5:48, Celtics 73-71: Clippers are on a 10-2 run after the Celtics came up empty on three consecutive possession and Chris Paul scored 6 consecutive points, including a 3-pointer that rolled in to reduce the lead to 2. Paul has 10 points and four assists in 34 minutes. Rajon Rondo has 10 points and eight assists.

Fourth quarter, 8:50, Celtics 70-61: Ray Allen scored the first 6 points of the quarter and the Clippers have been shut down offensively since the first half. Kevin Garnett just threw down an alley-oop and was fouled and has a free throw to attempt. The Clippers are shooting 24 percent (6 for 25) in the second half.

End of third quarter, Celtics 62-61: Celtics actually led 62-54 with 1:48 left in the quarter but they again broke down and allowed the Clippers to score the final 7 points of the period. Mo Williams has been significant for the Clippers with 19 points off the bench in 21 minutes. The Celtics are led by Paul Pierce, who has 15 points on 5-for-13 shooting. The Celtics collected 11 rebounds in that quarter after just four in the second period.

Third quarter, 2:52, Celtics 58-54: The Celtics have dominated the quarter with defense but the bad news is Brandon Bass just picked up his fifth foul as Blake Griffin tried jumping over him on an alley-oop. Griffin has 17 points and Chris Paul has just 2 in 25 minutes. The Celtics have three scorers in double figures led by Paul Pierce with 14.

Third quarter, 10:10, Clippers 48-45: Celtics begin the quarter with a spurt and three good defensive possessions. The key is rebounding. The Celtics were outrebounded 18-4 in the second quarter. They already have three in the first 1:50 of the third quarter.

Halftime, Clippers 48-39: With 5:13 left in the second quarter, the Celtics led this game 33-30. So if you do your math, a 18-6 run to end the half has put the Celtics in a hole. The Celtics are still shooting 50 percent but the Clippers are taking control on the board (23-14) and they have no answer for DeAndre Jordan, who already has nine. Blake Griffin has 15 points but Mo Williams has been a wild card with 14 off the bench. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett each have 8 for the Celtics.

Second quarter, 7:49, Celtics 29-27: The Celtics are giving Paul Pierce and Ray Allen plenty of rest but Kevin Garnett is not the same player as he was yesterday. He has no rebounds in 11 minutes and allowed Reggie Evans to chase down an offensive rebounds without giving much effort. Three Celtics have 6 points while Blake Griffin has 7 for the Clippers.

End of first quarter, Celtics 25-21: A positive quarter for the Celtics, who made 10 of 17 shots and are not wearing out the starters with minutes. Nine players have already played. The Clippers are hitting some tough shots but the Celtics have played strong defense. Blake Griffin has 7 points but no dunks. In fact, no dunks for the Clippers so far.

First quarter, 3:04, Celtics 19-16: The Celtics are playing with energy and execution in the early going. They are shooting 57 percent and Brandon Bass has already pulled down six rebounds and is not backing down from Blake Griffin. Ray Allen has missed his first three shots.

First quarter, 6:00, Celtics 13-11: The Celtics jumped out to an 11-4 lead but the Clippers responded with a 7-0 run. The start is encouraging for the Celtics considering how badly they played in the first period Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers. Paul Pierce has 5 points for Boston.
