Terry, Collins starting for Celtics

There will be two changes to the starting lineup for the Celtics against the Cavaliers tonight. Two days after Doc Rivers said that Courtney Lee would remain as a starter until Avery Bradley returned, Rivers reversed that decision, moving Jason Terry into the starting lineup at shooting guard.

“Right now, until Avery comes back, for Jet (Terry’s nickname) he just doesn’t get involved when Rondo’s not on the floor, when he’s not playing with Rondo,” Rivers said. “He had two shots last night. It has nothing to do with anybody else. It’s more just trying to keep Jet involved. He needs to be out on the floor with a point guard that can deliver the ball to him.”

That wasn’t the only change, though. Rivers said he was pondering using Jason Collins at center and moving Kevin Garnett to power forward to change Garnett’s matchups. That decision was confirmed by Sean Grande via Twitter moments later.

“I’ve been talking about a lot. We just haven’t done it,” Rivers said. “I’ve been trying to find ways of getting Kevin off the five spot all game. Right now, even when we bring the other guys in, the same guys guard him and he’s stuck in the same position. The only way you can force the action is with Jason.”

There was also news on the Bradley front. Bradley said that he would not play on the upcoming West Coast trip, though he will travel with the team. He said that the target date is early January, perhaps the Jan. 2 game against Memphis at home.

“They’re saying January, around the first or second,” Bradley said. “We’re just going to see how I feel. We’re hoping for the next home game after the West Coast trip.

“Knowing Ed [Lacerte], he sticks to his schedule. That’s what he’s been saying, around January. We’ll see how I feel.”

Bradley practiced for the first time on Monday in Chicago.
