Welcome to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for Celtics-Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS — The Celtics play the second of a back-to-back set with the rugged Pacers, who are seeded second in the Eastern Conference. With the Celtics at seventh entering Wednesday, this could be a potential playoff preview and the two clubs have played once already, when the Celtics smothered Indiana 94-75 on Jan. 4. But much has changed since then with the Celtics playing without Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger.

The two teams will meet again on April 16 in Boston.

Pregame notes:

• Courtney Lee was poked in the right eye late in the third quarter making a jump shot against the Philadelphia 76ers and did not return. But he said he is available tonight after his vision cleared following the Celtics win.

• Despite not sealing the game until the final minutes, the Celtics were able to limit Kevin Garnett’s minutes in Tuesday’s win but he may play lighter minutes tonight. The Celtics play Friday against Atlanta, Sunday afternoon against Oklahoma City and again Tuesday at Charlotte.

• Indiana coach Frank Vogel said the Celtics are different offensively without Rondo but not defensively, where they have risen to ninth in the league in points allowed.

• All-Star Forward Paul George recorded his team-leading 20th double-double Sunday against Chicago and is second on the team in scoring at 17.6 points per game.

• Former All-Star Danny Granger had an MRI on his ailing left knee that revealed no further damage but he will miss at least the next week with what Vogel called “above-average soreness.” Granger missed the first 55 games with patellar tendonosis.
