No extension for Bradley, will be RFA next summer

The Celtics and Avery Bradley’s representatives negotiated into the late evening trying to work out a four-year contract extension but they were unable to reach a deal before the midnight deadline, meaning the guard will be a restricted free agent next summer.

Bradley, who just finished his third season, was eligible for an extension before the Oct. 31 deadline and both the Celtics and Bradley had interest in a long-term deal but couldn’t come together on the money.

Interested teams will be able to offer Bradley a contract next summer but the Celtics will have the right to match those offers. Bradley has missed 85 games over his first three seasons because of injuries, including 32 last season because of surgery on both shoulders. Tuesday was the just the second time in four seasons Bradley has been healthy enough to play in a season opener.

For his career, Bradley has averaged 6.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
