In the first minute of the fourth quarter at TD Garden Friday night, New Orleans forward Ryan Anderson left the game against the Celtics on a stretcher following a collision with Gerald Wallace.
A Celtics spokesman said Anderson suffered a cervical stinger.
The exit came several minutes after the two appeared to butt heads. Wallace bounced back up, apparently unscathed.
Trainers tended to Anderson and players and coaches from both teams surrounded him as he was placed on the stretcher. Anderson’s neck and head were immobilized.
Wallace was the last player to talk to Anderson before exiting.
At the time of the injury, Anderson had 13 points — tied for the team lead — and seven rebounds. The Celtics held a 75-73 lead.
