Welcome to TD Garden for Celtics-Knicks

The Knicks come to the TD Garden for the final time this season and the New York team that comes next season could be dramatically different. Phil Jackson is reportedly close to joining the team in a managerial position and the roster could come completely overhauled. It could also be the final time Carmelo Anthony plays in Boston as a Knick. He will opt out of his contract this summer and be an unrestricted free agent.

The Celtics dropped a hard-played 94-83 decision to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday and will be playing without Rajon Rondo, who will rest his surgically repaired right knee. The Knicks will be without Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler.

Pregame notes:

• With Rajon Rondo out because it is the second game of a back-to-back set, Phil Pressey gets the start but coach Brad Stevens said he considered starting Chris Babb or Chris Johnson to get another ball-handler in the lineup. It’s been a difficult offensive rookie season for Pressey, who is shooting 28.2 percent from the field.

• The Knicks are also shorthanded as Tyson Chandler (personal reasons) and Amar’e Stoudemire (recovering, which is the actual wording used by the Knicks) are out. Stoudemire played 30 minutes Monday against Philadelphia, scoring 23 points.

• The Celtics will take Thursday off before facing the Phoenix Suns on Friday evening. The team will debut its St. Patrick’s Day sleeved jerseys.
