During tonight’s game against the Raptors, Celtics guard Rajon Rondo was elbowed in the face by Toronto’s Greivis Vasquez during the third quarter and received a cut on his forehead that needed nine stitches to heal.
The injury happened in front of the Raptor’s bench midway through the third quarter. Celtics trainer Ed Lacerte was called in to aid Rondo, who held a towel to his face while he walked with Lacerte down the tunnel next to the Raptors bench.
Rondo came back to the bench early in the fourth quarter and re-entered the game.
The Raptors beat the Celtics 99-90. Rondo had 10 assists on the first 15 Celtics baskets. He finished the game with 15 assists and nine points on 3-for-9 shooting.
