Celtics Respond to Alleged Racist Comments by Donald Sterling

Racist comments allegedly made by LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling to his girlfriend have resulted in widespread outrage from players and ownership around the NBA. Locally, members of the Boston Celtics organization are responding as well.

Celtics’ guard Jerryd Bayless was one of the first players in the league to voice his concern with the remarks.

Bayless will be a free agent this offseason and made clear that the comments purportedly made by Sterling in an audio recording released by TMZ.com would have an impact on whether he would be willing to sign with the Clippers this summer.

Wyc Grousbeck also released a statement today to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe that condemned the alleged comments by Sterling.

Former Celtic captain Paul Pierce chimed in at the Nets’ shootaround this morning.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced in a press conference Saturday night that the league will not take immediate action against Sterling for the alleged racist remarks. The NBA will look into the “disturbing and offensive” comments and hope to wrap up the investigation within a few days.
