Doc Rivers Goes Off on Refs After Clippers Loss in Game 5

Clippers coach Doc Rivers was none too happy with the officiating after his team’s 105-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday night. With 11.3 seconds left, OKC’s Reggie Jackson took the ball to the rim after a Chris Paul turnover. Jackson appeared to be fouled, but the ball also clearly went off his hands last. No foul was called.

“That’s our ball,” Rivers is seen mouthing over and over again in the highlights above. Afterward, Rivers went off.

“It was our ball,” Rivers in his postgame press conference. “Everybody knows that it was our ball. I think the bottom line they thought it was a foul and they made up for it. In my opinion, let’s take away replay. Let’s take away the replay system because that’s our ball. We win the game and we got robbed because of that play.”

Rivers was right to be miffed about the call, but his team also blew a 13-point lead in the final four minutes. Blaming the entire outcome of the game on that call seems foolish at best. Perhaps the stress of the Donald Sterling situation is finally showing through for the former Celtics coach.
