Paul Pierce is Rocking a Red Sox Hat and Kicking Butt at the World Series of Poker

In the latest example of an arbitrary fashion choice everyone will take way too seriously, Paul Pierce is rocking a Red Sox hat as he continues to play in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Pierce seemed happy with his performance on Day 1.

This is not Pierce’s first time in the event (he also made it to the second day of the event last year) and he doesn’t lack confidence. Pierce told pokernews.com on Monday, “Me, myself, I feel like I’m one of the great poker players you’ve never heard of.”

Another famous NBA free agent, LeBron James, is meeting with the Miami Heat in Las Vegas Wednesday, but Pierce appears to be having more fun.

As far as the Sox cap thing, don’t read too much into it. Pierce has been known to rock a Sox hat, and to this point he has been linked to the Nets and Clippers in free agency, not the Celtics. Pierce is also reportedly seeking $9 million to $10 million per season, which would appear to price the Celtics out.
