Isaiah Austin Says NBA Has a Job Waiting For Him

Isaiah Austin, the former NBA prospect who was forced to end his basketball career after being diagnosed with a rare disease, says the league has a job waiting for him after he graduates from Baylor.

Austin told TMZ.com that he’s been working for the NBA Cares program while he finishes school. Afterward, he says Adam Silver has told him he will get a job with the league.

Austin praised Silver in the brief interview for his approachability. During June’s NBA Draft, Silver gave Austin his dream moment, calling the Baylor center’s name and allowing him to walk across the stage. Austin has Marfan Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects the heart, eyes, circulatory system, and skeleton. The disease was discovered in routine genetic testing ahead of the draft.
