UPDATE: The Celtics are reportedly looking to spin Rivers in a separate trade after acquiring him from the Pelicans.

One possible destination? The Los Angeles Clippers.

Boston.com will have more updates on this story as they develop.

The Boston Celtics were reportedly close to dealing away Jeff Green to the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night and that statement remains true. However, there’s a reported new wrinkle in a potential three-team deal involving Green, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein:

Here’s the full breakdown of the trade as it stands currently (via Stein):

Celtics receive: Tayshaun Prince (from Memphis), Austin Rivers (from New Orleans), 2019 first-round pick (from Memphis)
Grizzlies receive: Jeff Green
Pelicans receive: Quincy Pondexter

Rivers, 22, is the son of former Celtics’ head coach Doc Rivers. He was the 10th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, but has struggled during the first three years of his career in New Orleans. This season he’s averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 assists per game, but has shot just 38.7 percent from the field. Due to his inconsistent play, the Pelicans opted not to pick up a team option on Rivers before the season, so he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The Celtics have been rumored to be interested in acquiring the young shooting guard in recent months. In the midst of a rebuild, the team would likely use the next few months to evaluate the youngster up close.
