The Dallas Mavericks suspended former Celtic Rajon Rondo one game for conduct detrimental to the team, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The point guard will miss Wednesday night’s game against the Hawks in Atlanta.
The suspension stems from a heated confrontation Rondo had with Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle during Tuesday’s win over the Raptors. With just over eight minutes remaining in the third quarter, Rondo appeared to ignore Carlisle shouting out instructions as he dribbled the ball up the court.
Carlisle became extremely animated at Rondo’s lack of listening and called a timeout just after Rondo crossed halfcourt. The duo immediately had a heated confrontation upon Rondo arriving on the bench. After the profanity-filled exchange, Carlisle benched Rondo for the final 20 minutes of the contest.
This run-in was reportedly not the only argument of the night between the two parties.
Per sources, Rajon Rondo and Rick Carlisle had another heated exchange in the Mavs’ locker room after last night’s win.
