Boston College moves up to No. 17 in AP Top 25 football poll

The last time the Eagles were ranked higher than 17th came in the final week of the 2007 season.

The Boston College football team is now ranked at No. 17 in the AP Top 25 poll.

Boston College moved up seven spots to No. 17 Sunday in the most recent AP Top 25 college football poll.

The Eagles (7-2) are the third-highest ranked ACC team in the poll behind Clemson (No. 2) and Syracuse (No. 13). BC has won three games in a row after its defeat of Virginia Tech, 31-21, on the road Saturday. The Eagles are 4-1 in the ACC, good for second place in the Atlantic Division standings.

The last time the Eagles were ranked higher than 17th came in the final week of the 2007 season, when they were ranked 10th.

BC will host No. 2 Clemson Saturday at 8 p.m. ESPN’s “College Gameday’’ will make an appearance before the game is broadcast on ABC.
